Regional Financial Controller

As Regional Financial Controller, you will have responsibility for the following areas:

  1. Leadership of property finance teams in England, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark
    • Recruit, mentor and develop the local property finance teams who all report into this position
    • Ensure best practice accounting across the estate and that the highest internal control standards are adhered to
    • Drive continuous process improvement
    • Work with the Group Finance, Operations and IT teams to review, conclude on and implement system improvements to improve reporting accuracy, speed and overall control
  1. Cost management
    • This role will partner strongly with the Operations team in the locations as well as the wider Head Office Operations team particularly around cost management – and ensuring the hotels track or exceed budget expectation – and driving value across the portfolio
  1. Reporting/budgeting
    • Work with the Group Finance team to improve the quality of reporting in respect of the monthly management accounts, particularly around explaining deviations from budget KPIs, particularly cost KPIs
    • Oversee the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process for all properties in the region
    • Production of other ad-hoc other recurring reports

  • To be very commercially and operationally focussed with a track record of success in hotel cost management
  • Demonstrable experience of outstanding leadership and people skills across multiple jurisdictions
  • To be highly collegiate and be able to work seamlessly with a large range of other stakeholders including General Managers, Senior Executive Team and the wider Head Office Team.
  • To be highly impactful, dynamic individual and possess strong communication skills
  • To have a hands-on attitude with microscopic attention to detail
  • Prior experience and a demonstrable track record in an Operational Finance role with responsibility for a multi-site business within the hospitality industry
  • Strong Excel, analytical and reporting skills
  • Should have formal qualifications or extensive experience in Accountancy/Finance
  • Highly experienced in business partnering, analysis and requirement gathering, ideally having operated in an organisation through business change and transformation
  • Proven track record of introducing cost saving financial initiatives, new systems and processes
  • Candidates need to be fluent in English and preferably another European language (to business level) across any of the locations this role will be responsible for
  • Experience in using Exact and Lucanet preferred
  • Lead, manage and train location bookkeepers with responsibility for presenting their month end P&Ls explaining business performance and variances to budget / forecast
