Generator Amsterdam has Officially Launched

launch-main-image

On Saturday night, Generator Amsterdam was launched into the stratosphere.

For everyone who worked on getting the beautiful place ready in time, it was a chance to celebrate with cocktail or two. Or three. And for the great and the good of Amsterdam’s coolest, it was an opportunity to explore a space that will come to define the city.

Just to make you even more jealous, here’s some details as to what went down: it wasn’t so much a standard party as it was an immersive experience. It started in a full auditorium with DJs providing the soundtrack as the guests explored light sculptures and hand-drawn illustrations on the wall. Then the spoken-word artist Unom JG performed a set in a speak-easy-style library. The party then moved down to the canteen – which had a six person cocktail bar (the Dutch Mule was amazing) and food prepared by Generator’s chefs – before everyone went up to dance to some home-grown talent, Mr. Mendel and Elias Maziam, and the Chicago house superstar Rahaan.

It’s impossible to relive the night but if you listen to Mr. Mendel’s Fela Kuti edit (above) and check out the photography below, you might get close to the experience of it.
