DGTL Festival was a weekend to remember

Stepping off the ferry in NDSM – “the other side” of Amsterdam, which between 1946 and 1979 was a ship yard – we were greeted by the sun.

We came for Amsterdam’s famed DGTL festival, which last weekend hosted almost 20,000 ravers and scores of DJs from across the world. Re-purposing old ships and warehouses from the dock’s industrial days into stages and delivering the most progressive and funky sounds in electronic and bass music, DGTL was an otherworldly weekend – a blend of past and future.

We caught British legends Jackmaster playing back-to-back with Optimo; Seth Troxler steering his set like he was the captain of a party cruise; Hot Since 82 delivering a deep and banging techno set; the ever inscrutable Joy O; French live set masters N’To and a whole lot more. Photographer Raymond van Mil was there with us to document the weekend’s festivities – here’s what he saw.
