If you like whiskey, good food and want to explore Dublin’s trendiest neighbourhood...

Our friends at Generator Dublin described L. Mulligan Grocer as “hipster heaven”. That term can mean a lot of things to different people but – bear with us – in this case it’s definitely a good thing. L. Mulligan Grocer offers excellent Irish produce, rich and delicate cooking, and a lot of fun events.

The menu changes seasonly; every main comes paired with Irish beer or cider; and the puddings are matched with the perfect whiskey. In other words, they really care about their food. Just looking at the current menu – beer-pickled scotch eggs, lamb burger with goat’s cheese and beetroot tzatziki, smoked caramel brownies… – is enough to send you into a blissful food coma.

They also put on cool events, like a weekly pub quiz and special celebratory meals for Burns Night. The last big thing they did was a whiskey tasting session with an Irish expert.

You’ll find L. Mulligan Grocer is the wonderfully named Stoneybatter, a region of Dublin north of the river and just round the corner from the Generator. A few decades ago it wasn’t much to write home about, but now it’s full of restaurants and craft beer joints as interesting as L. Mulligan’s.

L. Mulligan Grocer’s open from 4pm Monday - Friday and from 12.30pm on weekends. Email table@lmulligangrocer.com to reserve table.
