Discover the most prolific painter you’ve never heard of

Hilma af Klint is the most prolific and important Swedish painter of esoteric mysticism you have probably never heard of.

Just opened at the Serpentine Galleries, located smack bang in the centre of Hyde Park, Painting the Unseen displays af Klint’s most secretive and spiritual works taken from her paintings series called ‘The Paintings For a Temple’. Painting well before the pioneers of abstract art like Mondrian and Kandinsky and alongside a girl-group of artists called De Fem (The Five), af Klint dabbled in automatic techniques (predating surrealism, too) and produced this gargantuan series in just over nine years.
