The Best Rooftop Bars in Miami

The-Best-Rooftop-Bars-in-Miami-Header-Image

Few cities party like Miami and fewer still make such good use of their roofs to do so. Rooftop bars are everywhere these days, but the phenomenon makes perfect sense in Miami – year-round sunshine and ocean views mean most things are better experienced up high and in the open air in the Magic city.

Sugar at East, Miami

788 Brickell Plaza #40, Miami, FL 33131

Ascend to the top of Brickell’s swish East Hotel and you’ll discover an unexpected exotic wonderland, replete with verdant Balinese vegetation and jungle-luxe furnishings. Sugar goes all in on its tropical island paradise theme and succeeds in creating a genuinely fantastical escape 40 floors above Miami’s financial district.

Juvia

1111 Lincoln Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Super stylish and upscale with prices to match, Juvia is a glam bar / restaurant that sits atop Herzog & de Meuron’s eye-catching Lincoln Road complex and offers some of the city’s finest views. The vibe is laid back and sophisticated and the menu offers an intriguing blend of Peruvian, French and Japanese flavours.

Astra

2103 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127

Wynwood’s status as Miami’s most happening district is well established, but for all the exciting openings in this up-and-coming neighbourhood, Astra stands out as a significant addition. This extensive rooftop bar brings a splash of Greece-themed glam (we’re talking Mykonos, not Travolta) complete with a retractable roof and seating for more than 350 guests.

E11even

15 NE 11th St, Miami, FL 33132

It’s hard to imagine a nightspot that looks and feels more Magic City than E11even.  A 24/7 party hub in downtown Miami, E11even goes all in, offering up burlesque entertainment, famous DJs and pole dancing – if you’re in town to party you should definitely give it a look. With its relatively relaxed atmosphere, calming waterfall and pleasant dining facilities, the rooftop bar offers something of a retreat when you need to cool off a little.

Watr at the 1 Hotel

2341 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Capitalising on to die for ocean views, Watr more than makes up for its missing vowel with a dreamy Polynesian theme that prioritises luxurious lounging over banging party vibes. The relaxed atmosphere has been known to get a bit more excitable when the sun goes down.

Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita

1000 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130

We’re not sure what the Nabokov reference is all about but this happening rooftop bar in the heart of Brickell’s financial district is a seductive spot to while away an evening surrounded by palm trees and fashionable folk. The rooftop bar is only two floors up – significantly less elevated than most of the bars on our list, but the views are pretty special nonetheless.

Area 31

16, 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami, FL 33131

Located on the 16th floor of the Kimpton EPIC Hotel, this stylish rooftop bar and restaurant is one of Miami’s hottest nightspots and it’s easy to see why. The skyscraper-filled view over Biscayne Bay is spectacular and quintessentially Miami. Make sure you don’t miss out on Happy Hour which runs between 5 and 11PM – perfect for watching the sun set over Miami with a $7 cocktail.

HighBar

1111 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

For unabashed Studio 54 meets Miami Beach partying, HIGHBAR is hard to beat. The design brief was clearly sleek 70s homage and this popular South Beach hangout really channels that classic Miami pool party vibe.

Soho Beach House

4385 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140

The Miami outpost of the Soho House network of private members clubs fully embraces the Magic City vibe. Located in a stylishly renovated art deco property on the South Beach oceanfront, it’s upscale but relaxed and attracts a suitably well-heeled clientele. If you can get in (you’ll need to be a member or a member’s guest) the rooftop offers a delightful spot to gaze out at the sea with a cocktail.

If you’re looking for something a little bit higher, try these great rooftop bars to really get the party started. And if you don’t feel like travelling very far, it’s always possible to check out Driftway and Hoja Restaurant at Generator Miami – where the views are as out of this world as the drinks. We love rooftop bars here at Generator, and Miami definitely has some of the best. Discover them all during your next stay with us!
