Have a Scandi-Lous night out

copenhagen-238021_1920

Reading time: 5 minutes: Calling all night owls – if you’re itching for some fun once the sun’s gone down, you’ve come to the right place. Copenhagen is one of those great cities for nightlife, with a small centre packed to the brim with restaurants, bars, clubs and venues. While the biggest nights out are always from Thursday to Saturday, there’s never a shortage of fun to be had. So if you’re looking for a banger of a party, or just somewhere interesting to make friends and memories, look no further.

Clubs

If you’re looking for a big night out, dancing ‘til the lights come on, we’d recommend either one of Chateau Motel or Sigurdsgade, although take note – both have a reputation for turning people away at the door. We suggest you contact them in advance to ensure you’re on the list. No guestlist? No problem. Just dress the part when you arrive: if you look like you’re there to party hard, spend some money and pop bottles, you won’t have a problem.

If you’re looking for something different, Culture Box is only 500m away from your bed, and is a lot more down to earth and relaxed. It’s probably the best venue in town to pick up on some up-and-coming local electronic acts to add to your Spotify playlists. Be sure to check their website to see what event they have on the night, buy your tickets in advance, and maybe book a table for you and the friends you made back at the Pétanque & Shuffleboard Bar.

Bars

What sets Copenhagen apart from other cities is its conscious and considered approach to aesthetic, and this is no different when it comes to the bars and pubs you’ll visit. Each seems to have its own unique theme, ensuring that at the very least you won’t be having a generic experience.

If you’ve found yourself with a match on the GenFriends app and are looking for a place in the area to meet face-to-face, head on over to Little Green Door, an oriental-themed cocktail bar with great music and a fun atmosphere, it’s quietly known for having cute bartenders, so that’s a nice plan b if the date doesn’t work out so well.

Feeling like something a little bit more upmarket? Treat yourself to a luxe night out with some drinks at Strøm bar. Featuring a stunning Art Deco design, the bar has been nominated among the world’s best, and it takes great pride for being the first bar in Europe to install on-tap cocktails.

Live music

There’s always music being played in Copenhagen, so be sure to check if your visit happens to overlap perfectly with a must-see show. The Royal Arena is Copenhagen’s biggest space, and will likely feature a world class act passing by on their world tour, while Loppen is your go-to venue for alternative rock. If you’re looking to tap your feet and click your fingers, try out Mojo Blues Bar or Charlie Scott’s – both are sure to supply you with a memorable night out.

Street Food

The next day if you find yourself nursing a hangover to forget after a night to remember, we highly recommend you go and check out Torvehallerne food market. Just follow your nose and you’ll find inspiration – our tip is to have one of the amazing confit duck sandwiches from Ma Poule and then drinking some home distilled eau de vie from one of the nearby stalls. That’ll set you right in no time!
