HafenCity

Over ten years ago Hamburg decided to transform 400 acres of dockland into a commercial and residential area and thereby increase the size of the city by a third. The project won't be completed until 2030 at the earliest but a lot's been done already. The area, located in the district of Hamburg-Mitte, is a kind of who's-who of contemporary European architecture, as glass columns vie with sandstone facades and angular terraces for your attention.
