Paris’s Generator on place du Colonel Fabien, named after a famous French communist resistance leader, is the ideal spot for exploring the North of the river. Nothing has happened on the Left Bank for about fifty years and it’s hardly worth the visit. Instead stick to the tenth arrondissement and its neighbouring quarters to sample the best of Parisian eating and drinking establishments away from the crowds of lovers bolting padlocks to every bridge in sight.
