La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali

All roads might lead to Rome, but loads of roads inside Rome seem to lead nowhere. And even more lead to a tourist trap. Never, never, never trust an English flag on the blackboard; it’s a sign there’s a scam going down (in fact, just don’t trust an English flag in any context). Luckily enough, Taverna has always been trustworthy. Ask for simple things, like zucchini flowers, fried baccalà, artichoke alla giudia or cacio e pepe. This is what local people come here for, and a test for the high reputation of the restaurant. It’s great local food at an affordable price. If you’re still hungry, then try the polpettone. And don’t forget a jar of house wine.
