St Paul's within the walls

Saint-Paul-Within-the-Walls-Church

Also known as the American church in Rome, this gothic building was the first Protestant church built in Rome. The mosaics of the altar are not byzantine in style, nor romanesque, nor baroque. They exude instead a pure 19th-century English taste. In fact, they’re the largest works of painter Edward Burne-Jones, of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Close to Repubblica metro station and the renowned Opera Theatre, St Paul’s is home to classical concerts and opera highlights, a great opportunity for listening to the hits of Puccini and Verdi without the boring parts in the middle.
