The famous heiress lived in this 18th century palace, which is now a testament to her art collection.

Anyone on a boat trip along the large central canal that runs through Venice will eventually see the Peggy Guggenheim Collection – a striking white palace adorned with a green garden on top. Inside they’ll discover one of Venice’s most ornate and beautiful buildings, housing one of the world’s most impressive permanent collections of modern art.

Guggenheim was a billionaire, socialite and art-collector who filled the space left by the sudden loss of her father – he was on board the Titanic – with an unparalleled collection of cubist, futurist and modernist artworks.

Untitled, Tancreti Parmeggiani. Galleria Del Lione, Private Collection.

The roof garden is reason enough for a visit – not to mention a wonderful café and bookshop – but if you need another they've got an exhibition called "Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity" until 26th of September 2022

Entrance costs €17.00 or slightly less for a concession. You’ll have to get the No. 8 vaporetto across the canal from Generator Venice to get there.
