From Chimney to Viewing Platform

  • Generator Skyview Tower was once a chimney for Jameson Whiskey. It was built in 1895 and was one of the tallest structures in Dublin at the time. The tower employed up to 300 people at its peak, and it was a highly sought-after job.

  • Today, the tower is a viewing platform with panoramic views of Dublin. You can see the Wicklow Mountains to the south and Howth Head to the north on a clear day. The tower is also one of Dublin's tallest structures, reaching a height of 60 meters.

  • The viewing platform was formerly used as an Air Traffic Control Tower in Newcastle, England. So, if you're a fan of aviation, you'll be interested to know that you're actually standing in a former ATC tower!

  • The spiral steel staircase of 259 steps, encased in 1.5-meter thick walls, leads you to the viewing platform. So, if you're afraid of heights, you might want to brace yourself!

  • The tower offers a unique opportunity to see Dublin at a new angle, with its clear views of Smithfield and Dublin Bay. It is also a popular spot for weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
