Thom Yorke, Flea, Patti Smith & Naomi Klein—Paris is pulling out all the stops for the climate change conference.

The Louvre, the Moulin Rouge and the café where they filmed Amélie – these things aren’t going anywhere. You can visit them any time. There are, however, some one-off events in the city – and by events I mean gigs that aren’t guaranteed to happen again. At the top of December’s gig highlights is Thom Yorke with Patti Smith – the Patti Smith! They’ll be playing at Le Trianon on the 4 December for a climate change gig to coincide with the UN conference in Paris. Also expect Naomi Klein and Flea from Chilli Pepers.

Also in town: what sounds like a cross between Lil Wayne and Drake if Lil Wayne and Drake rapped in French: Booba. This often-shirtless French rapper will take the stage at the Accorhôtels Arena on the 5 of December. On the other hand, if Parisian deep techno is more your thing, don’t miss Bleak play at La Machine du Moulin Rouge on the 11 December. Lastly, you could opt for either a classic funk magician like Roy Ayers (New Morning, 11 December), or some experimental noise rock from Nashville in the form of Today Is The Day (Point Ephémère, 16 December). Failing that, I hear Madonna is also in town.
